About the course

This 4-hour Marijuana Deterrence Course is designed to educate participants on the physical, psychological, legal, and social impacts of cannabis use. The course provides an evidence-based overview of marijuana, including THC potency, methods of use, tolerance development, dependency risk, and the short- and long-term effects on the brain and body. Participants will explore how cannabis affects motivation, memory, mental health, reaction time, driving ability, and decision-making. The course also reviews current state and federal marijuana laws, legal consequences related to possession and impaired driving, workplace and probation concerns, and the impact substance use can have on relationships, employment, and recovery. Through discussion, self-reflection, and educational activities, participants will increase awareness of the risks associated with marijuana use and develop healthier decision-making skills.
